Where you'll sleep

Canvas, thatch,
or a solid roof.

Four ways to stay on the edge of the reserve — all of them quiet, all of them well kept, and all of them a short drive from the gate.

Safari & Family Tents

Canvas under the acacias, with the plains starting where the guy ropes end.

Our tents sit in an open field shaded by acacia and young trees, far enough apart that each one keeps its own pocket of quiet. Family tents take a whole household under one canvas; classic safari tents suit couples and pairs. Bedding, a proper mattress and lighting are all provided — you bring nothing but a bag.

  • Made-up beds with warm bedding
  • Family and twin configurations
  • Shared hot-water ablution block
  • Campfire and open-air dining
  • Room for large groups and schools

Maasai Cottage / Manyatta

A round, thatched Maasai house built the old way — and cool all day because of it.

The manyatta is the most characterful thing we have. Built in the Maasai idiom with a thatched roof and thick walls, it holds the cool right through the afternoon and the warmth through the night. It sits on its own in a clipped garden, which makes it the quietest bed on the property and the one guests ask for by name.

  • Traditional thatched Maasai build
  • Private garden setting
  • Naturally cool by day, warm by night
  • En-suite facilities
  • The quietest corner of the property

Guest House — Single

A solid room in the main house, with a bed you sink into after a long day out.

Rooms in the main guest house are simple and well kept — a good bed, a bedside light, hot water, and a window that opens onto the garden. This is the room for guides, solo travellers and anyone who would rather have four walls than canvas after twelve hours in a vehicle.

  • Solid-walled room in the main house
  • Hot water
  • Mosquito net
  • Garden outlook
  • Meals served in the dining room

Guest House — Double

The largest rooms in the house — twin or double, and easy with a child alongside.

Our double and twin rooms are the roomiest option under a solid roof: a carved bed, space to spread a suitcase, and enough floor for an extra mattress when a child is travelling with you. Families who want the comfort of the house rather than the romance of canvas book these first.

  • Twin or double configuration
  • Space for a child's extra bed
  • Hot water and mosquito nets
  • Direct access to the garden
  • Meals served in the dining room
