The answers most people need.
How far are you from the reserve gates?
+
Mara Silalei sits right on the edge of the Maasai Mara, a short drive from the gate. That proximity is the whole point — you are in the reserve at first light rather than still on the road.
Are park gate fees included in the rates?
+
No. Accommodation rates cover your room and board. Game drives are KES 25,000 per vehicle per day, and reserve gate fees are paid separately, directly to the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
When is the Great Migration?
+
The herds are generally in the Mara from July through October, with river crossings most likely from late July into September. Nature keeps its own diary, so treat those windows as strong odds rather than a timetable.
Do you cater for children?
+
Yes, and gladly. Children under three stay free sharing with parents. Children between three and twelve are charged at reduced rates depending on how they are accommodated — the full policy is set out on our rates page.
Can you host a large group?
+
We host schools, church groups, youth camps and corporate retreats regularly. The camping field takes a substantial number of tents and our kitchen caters full board. Send us your numbers and dates.
How do I pay?
+
By M-PESA to Paybill 516600, Account 941726 (Mara Silalei Guest House). Talk to our office about deposits and confirming your booking.
